Re-Elect JC Simonsen
Midway City Council
I’m running for Re-Election to the Midway City Council. We can continue to protect what makes Midway special.
When I first ran for Midway City Council in 2017, my top priority was preserving Open Space. That hasn’t changed, even as Midway has grown and achieved so much since then. Together, we’ve passed not one but two Open Space bonds—giving local landowners new options and ensuring that hundreds of acres will remain open and in agricultural use for generations to come.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and I’ve truly enjoyed serving this community. I was honored when several Midway residents encouraged me to seek a third term so I can continue working to protect open space, preserve our historic charm and rural character, and help run an efficient city government.
With the support of many dedicated citizens and volunteers, we’ve consistently improved pedestrian safety, expanded recreation by adding new trails nearly every year, and invested in well-maintained roads, parks, and utility systems—all without the need for a large utility bond like other cities.
We’ve also supported community life with summer concerts, winter ice skating, and beloved traditions like Swiss Days, the Volksmarch, the Farmers Market, and more. And here’s something I’m especially proud of: Midway has accomplished all of this without raising general property taxes in over a decade. I’ve stood firmly against unnecessary tax hikes, helping our city do more with less.
Midway voters made a strong commitment to Open Space by approving two bonds. If re-elected, I’ll continue to make sure those dollars work for the people of Midway.
